The Brief
The team at Walden had seen some of my previous work on a vintage styled design in what I like to call a "matchbook" look, and they knew they wanted to go in that direction from the beginning. After meeting the folks at Walden and diving into some brainstorming and mood boards, we came away with the idea to create a "shop" shirt that paid homage to their original storefront and board shaping studio in Ventura where they have done business for 60 years.
Another Brief
A few months later after the success of the first design, the Walden team approached us again to work on a new design in a similar style that would connect to the immense history of surfing culture in the Ventura area. We again met to discuss ideas and brainstorm a plan, and the concept of a map design that would highlight the iconic surf breaks in the county came into focus.
